Sport Climbing Basics

Sport Climbing Basics is an introductory rock climbing course. It is the first stage of training intended for those who have never climbed before or have indoor climbing experience and want to progress to outdoor rock climbing. We will introduce you to the basics of sport climbing, all the related safety rules and technical skills. We will start with climbing on a top-rope. It is very safe and good for the beginning. However, this stage will not last long. Once you build your confidence and master these skills, we will move on to more advanced techniques like leading bolted routes and abseiling.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

The academy delivers training at a professional level. The price includes all the climbing gear that you will need (with the exception of climbing shoes). Upon completion, you will receive photos taken during the course and a training course certificate. The price does not include travel costs, accommodation or meals.

HOW

We will work in groups of between 2 and 4 participants per instructor. On day one of the course we’ll meet at 10 a.m. After a short introduction, you will collect the climbing gear and we’ll be off to the crags. Practical classes are interspersed with theory, nevertheless the schedule depends on weather conditions. On subsequent days we’ll usually start at 9 a.m. A training day lasts about 8 hours, so you should take packed lunch and drinks with you. On the last day of the course, we will finish a little bit earlier, so that you have time to prepare for your journey home.

WHERE

Sport Climbing Basics courses are held in the Polish Jurassic Highland. Polish Jura (as it is also called) is a macro-region situated in southern Poland, stretching between the cities of Kraków and Częstochowa. With its charming landscapes, medieval castles, Jurassic limestone crags and formations as well as a vast amount of caves no wonder it is considered to be an area of outstanding beauty.

Sport Climbing Basics in Poland

We run training courses in the vicinity of Podlesice. It’s a small village where you can find extensive accommodation facilities with a campsite, private apartments and a hotel. As we don’t have our base camp here, you will have to book accommodation on your own. Nevertheless, we can help you find something suitable. Let us know if you need a hand with that. It is also possible to arrange a sport climbing course in the Sokole Mountains – a venue for other rock climbing courses. Contact us for more information.

WHEN

The training courses are held between April and October according to the calendar you can find on the website. We usually start the 4-day course on a Thursday and finish on a Sunday. However, we are flexible, and we can alter the dates to match your flight itinerary.
